Blue Fish with Yellow Tail Limoges Box

A blue fish flicks a bright yellow tail, a cheerful splash of color for any sea themed shelf. It is a porcelain Limoges box, painted by hand in Limoges, France, in classic reef colors.

A Flick of Yellow

The yellow tail gives this fish a sense of motion, like it just darted past a coral head. Against the blue body, the tail catches the eye first and pulls the whole design together.

Blue Body, Sunny Tail

• Blue fish with a yellow tail
• Fits a fish, reef or nautical collection
• Pairs with the other blue and striped fish boxes

Swimming Into the Guest Bath

Set it on a guest bathroom counter with shells, on a sunroom shelf, or in a beach house hallway niche. It makes a fun present for a snorkeling friend, an aquarium keeper, or a coworker who just got back from a dive trip. Fish box collectors often like having a few blue fish with different accents to compare side by side. Because each fish is painted by hand, the yellow and blue tones vary slightly from one box to the next.

Fired Hard, Painted Soft

Limoges boxes start as hard-paste porcelain fired at very high temperatures. Painters then add each color by hand, and the metal mounts are fitted by hand as well.
